; ) situation report

Well, I feel like I haven't much to report, but that's not strictly true. Two weeks ago we drove to Puerto Nuevo in Baja California with Alf's parents and brother and brother's gf J. to eat cheap lobster, and the next weekend visited Santa Barbara wine country for his dad's birthday. His mom enjoyed the first winery.

Maybe I'll also post tales of the family drama. In the end, what is family drama for, if not to provide entertainment to others outside the family, who can only point and laugh? ;D And here is A's dad, brother & brother's gf: another winery, another mirror picture. And a bowl-shaped fountain I liked.

Here are some other random photos I wanted to show you. That first is one of me is what I usually look like and where I am to be found, mostly, these days: at the desk. Sometimes I look less scruffy...man, look at that pasty face! I really need to go play outside in the fresh air. If I find any fresh air in Los Angeles, though, it will merit a post all its own.

Ok, I have not succeeded in obtaining any worthwhile photos of me and Alf hiking, as you requested, but I did get a good pic of him the other day when we were playing around at a craft store (I wanted a big orange fake flower to put in the tiny blue-and-white china bud vase that is velcro-d to the dashboard of my car which currently contains Royal Essence Egyptian essential oil which you can't smell, but I did not end up finding a flower I liked. Instead, Alf found a monkey hat. Aw, isn't he cute?

And last I have a photo [oops, editing and accidentally deleted the cat pic...still getting the hang of eblog editing...I'll have to find it and repost] of one of the many millions of cats who now live at my (future) mother-in-law's house. There are countless generations of cats in my (future) parents-in-law's yard and indeed the whole cul-de-sac now, all descendants of one first small grey cat and, apparently, all fathered by the same big orange tiger-striped cat belonging to another neighbor, because only four out of all those millions of cats were grey; all the rest have been orange. One of the grey cats had six toes on each foot (somebody adopted him). Alf's dad looked it up online and announced that this is what's known as a Hemingway Cat. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of that cute kitten. But I do have this picture of what to do with an empty CPU box (there are six tiny kittens you can't see behind the mama).

Okay Joy, much love to you, too. Please have a beautiful weekend, yourself......I promise to post again, with some better stories and some pictures of wine country, and not wait so long this time!!! I can't wait to see more pictures of Py and your morning runs! and whatever else you're up to......

i still blog in my other blog, not everyday but just things coming to my life lately.

talking about family drama. i am facing one right now. but i am getting myself to get used to it. bc it's not a new issue. as a quote says.. family are like brownie, they are sweet but they have some nuts! -- you agree??

hey, feel free to post some photos of you and Alf. it's our place to do goofy things here.. and taking loads of photos boost your creativity too..

  2. Hey Joy, good luck with the Fun Run! That's great that you're doing that. I hope your bf makes it.

Hahaha, yes, I agree that families are like brownies. I had not heard that quote & it's really funny. (And I would add, some have more nuts than others.)

I forgot that I can check your other blog. : ) I'll do that...

  3. p.s. Joy, I was wondering if we can change the picture at the top? I'd like to put something different for my half : ) but I don't know how. It's a single image, isn't it?

  4. sure you can do that. you copy it into your file. open it again with paint. (right click on the picture in your file and you will see program "paint"), crop the part you don't want and delete it. and open the photo you want to add in with paint. crop it, copy and paste in the first one. save it. you can change the wording if you want to. (i just notice that i type "their" wrong. i do the wording in photoshop, but you can delete it from paint)..

and now go to dashboard, click layout, click edit at header, remove the current image and upload your new one.. feel free to change anything you want.. ;]

  6. your photos are getting more cheeky now! look at that photo with the woman sleeping on the fench! i like this kind of photo. i thinks it can tell story. and you have to observe more to get this kind of photo!..

  7. Hahaha!!! "cheeky," you're right! That's my (future) mother-in-law!

The family drama I told you about...heh heh... it's all created specially by her. Some old ladies knit sweaters, some gossip, some take up painting...not C. She creates drama for a hobby.

Right now she is not speaking to A. (my fiance) because he did not mention _her name specifically_ in his PhD thesis dedication: he just thanked "family and friends." So far, she has been not speaking to him for two weeks, and she started two days before his dad's birthday, later that same evening of this photo, when we were visiting wine country. She kind of ruined his dad's birthday.....

Now I'm being cheeky! heh...but I've known her for almost 8 years & I'm so tired of her tantrums! :P

But she makes funny photos sometimes....haha XD

  8. god! i can't believe you took that photo of her!! you are so so so cheeky.. but i think if i am in your situation, i might do the same thing..

    nice pic, though!

  9. hahaha....sad to say, everybody knew I was taking the picture, and laughing quietly. A. even took a couple of pictures, too. She would kill me if she found out! But it's okay. She tries to kill everybody on a regular basis (takes herself very very very seriously). And thinks everybody should kiss her feet...so it's especially funny to get a picture like this of her.

Have you read _Through the Looking Glass_ by Lewis Carroll? My (future) mother-in-law's nickname is The Red Queen.....
    ;D

  10. nope, i've never read this book but read some recommendations somewhere. is it good?

hey, you have a wicked sense of humour and very smart!

  11. haha ;D thanks...I love making people laugh but a quiet person like me has to do it any way possible.... ;)

Oh yeah, it's a GREAT book. Have you read Alice in Wonderland ? It's not just for kids. It's the first book. They're classics!! Very funny.
